Dr. David Meyer was born in Vivian, La. As a young boy his family moved to Haughton, La. He is a high school graduate of Haughton High School and went on to graduate from Centenary College in 1978 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He then decided to follow his life's dream of becoming a veterinarian. He obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science at Louisiana Tech University, then attended Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1987. Geaux Tigers! After graduating, Dr. Meyer worked at Benton Animal Hospital before returning to Vivian and opening his own practice in 1988. He enjoys working on all animals, great and small. He met his wife, Leslie, at Louisiana Tech University. They have three wonderful children, Kristen, Matthew and Alecia. In his spare time, Dr. Meyer enjoys training and field trialing his black lab Jake. Together they achieved the status of Hunting Retriever Champion in 2015. He also LOVES cheering on his LSU Tigers!

Leslie is the wife of Dr. David Meyer. Their relationship began while attending Louisiana Tech University where Dr. Meyer tutored her in accounting. That relationship grew and later led to their marriage in the summer of 1983. Together they have three children, Kristen, Matthew, and Alecia. Throughout the years Leslie has helped at the clinic and also accompanied Doc on his farm calls. She learned how to groom and for many years worked as the pet salon's head groomer. She is very talented and has taught others to groom as well. She has recently come out of retirement and is grooming full time as well as managing our office and pet salon. Dr. Meyer and Leslie have 7 horses, 2 dogs, 2 grand-dogs, 5 cats, a beautiful aquarium, and enjoys raising mallard ducks. When not working Leslie enjoys spoiling her yorkie Minnie, hanging out with the kids, but most of all spending time with the love of her life, Dr. Meyer.


After graduating from North Caddo Magnet High School in 2010, Alecia attended Louisiana Tech University where she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. She went on to pursue her love for animals and is currently at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in Baton Rouge, and will graduate in May of 2017.

Alecia loves spending time with her husband, Tylar, and her corgi named Zoey. When not studying, she enjoys going on walks with Zoey, bike riding, fishing, crocheting, and riding horses. During school breaks, you will see Alecia lending a hand at her father's practice, which she plans to join in the future as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.


Kristen has been a vital member of our practice since the fall of 2001. She is our longest standing employee and has over 20 years of management experience. She is trained in all facets of our hospital's operations and loves working in the veterinary field. She is compassionate about her job and is dedicated to making sure our day to day operations run smoothly. She loves making sure all of our client's and patient's needs are met. 

Kristen is married to her husband of 22 years, Kevin who is the pastor of Northwoods Baptist Church in Blanchard. La. Together they have two wonderful children. Their daughter Kaylin who is currently attending NSU Nursing School and their son Kameron who loves to play football for the Northwood High School Falcons. Kristen is also the proud pet parent of her corgi Tucker and grand pet parent of Rowdy and Honey. When not working she loves spending time with her family, singing and leading worship at their church, antique shopping and refinishing furniture.


Carey joined the Vivian Animal Hospital Team in the spring of 2008. She has been a great asset to our practice. Over the years she has been well trained and has worked in all areas of our hospital. Whether in an exam room, performing a dental procedure, in the equine area, or in surgery, you can always find her assisting Dr. Meyer. Her favorite area to work in would most definitely be in surgery. She also feels it very rewarding to care for our hospitalized patients and nurse them back to good health. 

Carey is married to her high school sweetheart, Jason. Together they have two beautiful daughters. There oldest daughter Megan, is part of our VAH Team and is currently in college to pursue a career in Physical Therapy. There youngest daughter Taylor, enjoys playing soccer for the North Caddo High School Rebels. They have 13 dogs including one very spoiled catahoula named Bandit. When not working, Carey enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and just about anything outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.


Renee joined our practice in early 2012. She has worked in the veterinary field for over ten years. She is an avid animal lover; with a special interest in chihuahuas. She can be found assisting in the exam room as well as keeping our kennels running smoothly. At any given time you might find her sitting in a kennel hand feeding an animal and giving extra care to our hospitalized patients. She loves making sure all their individual needs are met. When not working, Renee enjoys gardening and planting flowers. She also loves spending time with her granddaughter Miley and her three furr babies, Kricket, Kassie, and Finn.

Megan joined our practice after graduating from North Caddo High School in May of this year. At any given time you will find her assisting in the exam room, bathing, feeding, walking, or playing with all the animals in our boarding facility. If there is a puppy around you are sure to find it in her arms. Megan always has a big smile on her face and a kind word to say. She is currently attending Louisiana State University of Shreveport to pursue a career in physical therapy. She is the proud pet parent of a yellow lab named Sage. When not working or studying she enjoys reading, playing card games and fishing.
